W.I.P. and Serenity

I woke in a panic this morning as we had all overslept by an hour.  The school bus would be here in 15 minutes and I rushed through the house waking sleeping children and acting like a lunatic.  Of course neither child would get out of bed and I decided to throw my hands up in the air and go with it.  It turned into a really pleasant morning.  There were snuggles and both children listened, got dressed, teeth were brushed and we had a lovely relaxed breakfast.

There was laughter and the cutest car conversations as I drove them to school.  “Do policemen get breaks?”  “Why aren’t there more speed limit signs?”  “Why do people speed?”  (To which I replied….”That’s a question for Daddy!”—Daddy famously got a speeding ticket this summer returning home from our vacation.)  This morning was a gentle reminder that I need to slow down and enjoy these darlings as much as possible.

As for my Work In Progress, I have been slowly knitting a sweater (my first REAL sweater) called Beck: A pullover by Dani Sunshine.  I found it  on Ravelry and thought it looked simple and very beautiful.  I love Fair Isle sweaters so much but thought knitting one was quite advanced and this sweater might be a good introduction to using more than one color yarn.  For my birthday I decided to treat myself and I bought this yarn in the color Humdrum by Dream in Color yarn.  The color is anything but humdrum!  I am also using a skein of Madelinetosh DK but I can’t find the tag for the color.  I love how it is turning out!  Hopefully I will be wearing it soon.  The body is almost done and then I will start on the sleeves.

I hope you are finding some calm and serenity on this Monday morning.  A good friend gave me these beautiful daffodils.  Just looking at them reminds me spring is coming and with that sunshine and warmth.  Happy Monday!
